42 SIMBOLISMO MECCANICO 1973 - EN

42.  Simbolismo meccanico, 1973, oil on cardboard, cm 40 x 30

In this vertical composition the semi-informal elements, toothed disks and lines converge towards unlikely perspective foci projecting the dialectic between man and machine on an almost biomechanical plane in an alchemy of symbols that makes evident Catarsini’s belief that art is, that is, “more form than content”.

Surreal suggestions and give life to a surprising dialectic with a prevalence of red and black colors with yellow elements, revealing an unconscious dimension that emerges through the logic of color, of yellow, which thickens in geometric structures and of red that informs vaguely biological tubular elements.

The new artistic language thus seems to become almost a pretext to offer large and full-bodied chromatic textures, built on the usual and rigorous geometric frames through brush strokes or transparent glazes.

Insights

The choice of colors is perfectly consistent with that which can be appreciated in some of his figurative paintings, with bright shades of red and yellow that stand out on dark and gloomy backgrounds, together with the white textures, enriching the painting with the vibrations of a material that becomes organic nature, giving life to a system of relationships that has something physiological.
