Alfredo Catarsini was born in Viareggio, in the shadow of the Torre Matilde, in the house that had been Ippolito Ragghianti’s, on 17 January 1899. He began to paint very early. He was still a boy when he went to Paris, where he met Amedeo Modigliani.
