What data we process, why, and on what basis

1. Browsing data

The systems that run the website collect, in the course of their normal operation, some technical data: IP address, date and time of the request, page visited, browser used. They are used only to make the website work and to protect it from abuse (legal basis: legitimate interest) and are kept for the technically necessary time.

The website also keeps visit statistics in aggregate form only: how many pages were opened, how many audio recordings played, which channels visitors arrive from. The tool is our own, uses no cookies and keeps no IP addresses or other identifiers: these are daily totals, which cannot be traced back to anyone (legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing how the website is used). The website does not use any profiling tools.

2. Requests for information

If you write to the email addresses or call the numbers shown on the website, we process the data you give us solely in order to reply (legal basis: your request). The website contains no forms that collect personal data.

3. Newsletter

Subscription to the newsletter takes place on a page of the Mailchimp service (Intuit Inc.), to which the website links. We process your email address, and any other data you choose to provide, to send you news from the Foundation (legal basis: consent). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every message; your data are kept until you unsubscribe.

4. Content from other websites

Some pages embed YouTube videos, Google Maps and Wikiloc maps, and the Matterport virtual tour. This content is loaded only after you consent; from that moment the respective providers receive your IP address and may set their own cookies. Details are in the Cookie policy.

5. Social media

The links to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are simple links: no data are sent to those services until you open them. From then on, the privacy notice of the service you are using applies.

Recipients of the data

The data may be processed, on behalf of the Foundation and within the limits of their respective functions, by the providers of technical services acting as data processors: the hosting provider (Aruba S.p.A.), those responsible for the technical management of the website and, for the newsletter, Mailchimp. The data are not disclosed or sold to third parties.

Transfers outside the European Union

Some providers (Google, Intuit Mailchimp, Matterport) may also process data in the United States. In such cases the transfer is based on the safeguards provided by the GDPR: the European Commission’s adequacy decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep the data

  • Browsing data: for the time technically necessary for the operation and security of the website.
  • Requests for information: for the time needed to reply, and in any case no longer than 24 months after the last contact.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Cookie preferences: 180 days.

Your rights

You may exercise at any time the rights provided by Articles 15–22 of the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent without affecting what was done before. Simply write to info@fondazionecatarsini.com. If you believe that the processing infringes the law, you may lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
